Through the Dark Corridors of Time is the true story of how a child’s mind can be broken and restructured to serve Satan. Roma McPherson’s story began before birth and continued through a childhood overshadowed by the trauma and abuse of men who pledged allegiance to Satan.
But this is not only a story of darkness. It is a story of how God stepped in and brought healing and restoration to Roma’s fractured mind — what psychology calls Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID), formerly known as MPD.
Having walked a healing path less travelled, Roma shares both the triumphs and the struggles of her journey, in the hope that her story will help other survivors — and the people who love them — find a way toward wholeness. Family and friends of survivors often feel helpless, unsure how to offer support. Roma’s hope is that this book will offer insight and confidence to those who want to walk alongside a survivor toward healing.

The book is illustrated throughout showing The Town, set in Roma's imagined world in the Less Than Real, the cast of characters, Roma's alters, as well as two diagrams that map how Roma’s system came to be. All of them are here in colour.
The author
On the surface, as an adult, my life looked normal. I was a mother of three that overcame fear and drove our ski boat so my husband and kids could enjoy water skiing, a jigsaw puzzle expert that enjoyed working on 2000+ piece puzzles and found that the focus kept my panic attacks at bay, and a Tupperware unit manager driving the company-provided new Ford LTD station wagon.
Also on the surface, my husband and I became involved in deliverance ministry and spent a few years praying with people who had needs along that line as well as for inner healing. Eventually the number of people asking for prayer became more than we could handle so we began conducting seminars to train others as a way of enabling churches to set up their own ministry teams.
Slightly under the surface, when I am out in nature, I can hear the words that the trees are whispering amongst themselves. At times I can cry when a tree loses its leaves and even more if one gets cut down. I know that the emotions come from empathy for the tree losing its beauty or life. When the kids were young, I was aware that each of them needed an unbiased advocate to plead their case, and so each of my kids had their own mother. Now I realize that not every mother can do that, but I could. I also noticed that places I didn’t want to go, like the lake with the kids in the summer, became the same places I didn’t want to leave once I got there.
Deeper under the surface I was very aware of what my early life had been about. I knew what I had been trained to do and what my mission and purpose were. I had been systematically subjected to the most horrendous torture that one could imagine — all to shape me into the woman that Emile needed me to be. I had been trained to seamlessly switch so it was impossible to detect that I had parts and I was pressured to be word perfect at what I was taught, particularly when I had to lead satanic cult meetings and rituals. I was proficient at using my mind to take the worst interactions an adversary could inflict on me, both physical and emotional, and fling that interaction back at them and come out unscathed.
Way below the surface, all my training had taken a toll. Some of the very young parts could not stop crying. Interestingly, that was the chink in all my programming that allowed my most hardened parts and protectors, the Dark Circle, to allow this new man, Allan, to enter our secret world just long enough to help the little ones.
In 2019 God spoke to me and told me it was time to get the story written. There were endless hours of reading written journals from the 90s and even more hours of listening to the recordings of all the phone sessions made from 2013-2018. I wrote all through Covid. It was great to have something productive to do during the time of isolation and I continued writing until the end of 2023. I was trying to figure out how to get the manuscript edited and published when God decided it was time to bring Allan back into the picture. He had the necessary knowledge and talent to take my story and improve it as well as to get it edited, formatted, and ready for publishing.
